Savannah Suggestions
Suggestions from friends:
From Cara:
As for food, we really liked J. Christopher's. They had live music, a fantastic duo, that we really enjoyed and the food was great!
We went to The Olde Pink House, it's pretty upscale, but again, the food was delicious.
Leopold's Ice Cream is definitely worth a stop.
Jazz'd Tapas was pretty good, maybe a little crowded and the music was pretty loud for my tastes.
We had a decent brunch at SOHO South Cafe, I'd go back.
We went and saw Lawrence of Arabia at Lucas Theatre for the Arts, we sat in the balcony, it was a cool, chill way to spend an evening.
The only museum we went to was the Massie Heritage Center. we ended up learning all about the construction of Savannah, like city planning, why all of the squares were there and stuff, we really enjoyed it!
We spent most of our days just walking around the city. We found lots of cool little shops to explore, on of my favorites was (I think this is the name) ShopSCAD. It was full of tons of original stuff.
We didn't do any of the tours, but I sort of wish we'd done that when we first got there in order to orient ourselves a little.
from Dano -
crystal beer parlor,
jinx,
johnny mercer house,
chill in forsythe,
come have a fancy dinner with me at pink house I work thurs through sun.
Just give me a call when you guys get in town and settled.
River street of course. Cant wait.
From Katie:
Drinks... Sparetime on MLK and congress.... Classic cocktails with small batch liquor. They only play vinyl. Next door is the social... Over 95 bourbons.
You want beer? World Of Beer of Broughton.
Food... Gotta have some BBQ-- Blowwin Smoke on MLK. It's delicious and good beer. Fancy delicious awesome experience food?... Local 1110. Local food done right. Great cocktail list. Another great-- Sapphire Grill on congress. Both unbelievable food.
Something that you have to do on a Friday or Saturday is go to Hucapoos on Tybee. I used to work there and it is one of the best places on earth... You'll see when you get there. It's a locals place and you'll hear some amazing live music.
If you want to go to river street and catch a buzz... Kevin Barry's is a hole in the wall, but it's the oldest Irish bar in Savannah. Last... On river street... Go to Rocks on the Roof in the bohemian hotel. You'll see riverstreet from a birds eye view. Have fun:). Go to hucapoos.
From Zack:
OK so first thing hit up river street only for a day its a tourist trap but you have to see it.
Make sure you hit up the distillery which is a great bar.
As well as the crystal beer palace
also theres a place called zunzis which is famed for there sandwiches.
If your looking for a cool experience take the ghost drinking tour and also there's a culinary tour.

Stowe Skiing
This quintessential Vermont town has history and charm oozing from every nook and cranny. There are over 60 restaurants in town, including excellent pubs and lodging establishments. The glare of modern trading has been avoided with strict sign-posting laws; even McDonald's golden arches are only three feet high! Stowe prides itself on its presentation and welcoming nature. Look hard enough however, and you will find down-to-earth grittiness behind the scenes.
At 4,393 feet, Mount Mansfield is the highest peak in Vermont. Since the first trails were cut in the 1930s, it has been one of the Northeast's pre-eminent resorts. Stretching over three faces (and the valleys in between), Stowe delivers demanding terrain. An abundance of waterfall cliffs and in-the-tree riding on the north-facing slopes makes them the most challenging freeriding areas. The western face plays host to the gondola and its hard-boot disciples, while freestylers hang out in the pipe above the gondola base. Spruce Peak, to the south, works best after a big snowfall; otherwise, it's purely intermediate to expert terrain. As a bonus , you can ride to neighboring Smugglers' Notch over Snuffy's Trail.
Mount Mansfield is east of Lake Champlain and the Great Lakes, which means that the mountain is the recipient of relatively heavy falls of water-laden snow. Occasional gusty winds make warm layers the safest clothing bet.

Yes very different. The Friday tour is a group tour that is sort of a walking/eating tour. An individual tour will see exactly the same things, but you won't have the food along the way. If you have time on Wednesday I will take you to lunch at NECI on Main after you have a chance to see the campus.

Hi Matt,
It would be great to see you again. That Friday is good, let us know if you’re running late and we can wait. We’re here on Saturdays too if that’s more convenient.
There are a few new beer bars in New Haven if you’re looking for stuff to do.
We’ll have some good beers for trading, I’ll ask my Matt what he’d like to get from you guys.
Best,
Rob

Stowe, Vermont
The Best Snowboarding in North America
| The quintessential New England town (Stowe) |
Comment On This Article
